In 2000 he graduated in environmental engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, with an experimental thesis on water treatment with membrane bioreactors. After a short experience in soil remediation he worked as a researcher in the field of industrial water treatment, in Spain.
Since 2002 he works as a freelance consultant, both in Italy and abroad, mainly in the fields of water resources management and river restoration. He is a member of CIRF since 2002.
