Cari associati,

vi segnaliamo un'opportunità molto interessante.

Come sapete il CIRF sta seguendo le problematiche del fiume Tagliamento, oggetto di studio
da qualche tempo del prof. Tockner e della sua equipe, il quale ora offre due posti per un
dottorato di ricerca su questo tema.

Noi vorremmo proporgli dei nominativi di associati CIRF e a questo proposito invitiamo tutti
coloro che fossero interessati alla cosa ad inviarci entro venerdì 6 settembre (i tempi sono
molto stretti) la loro candidatura con annesso curriculum aggiornato.

Vi precisiamo che il CIRF si limiterà a fare una segnalazione di nominativi al prof. Tockner e
quindi non è detto che poi questi verranno selezionati.

2 PhD Student Positions, ETH-Zurich

Ecosystem Processes in a Dynamic Alpine River System

 

Two positions leading to a PhD Degree are available for highly-motivated students, devoted to productive scholarship, to conduct research on the Fiume Tagliamento (Italy), the last morphologically intact river corridor in the European Alps. 

 

Theme: Inundation dynamics and ecosystem processes. Investigating the relationship between expansion/contraction dynamics of surface and subsurface water on nutrient and organic matter transformation processes in the bed-sediments. These theses are part of an interdisciplinary and international research project on the ‘Fiume Tagliamento’. 

            M.S. Degree required, with a thesis topic that addressed some aspect of stream ecology/ecosystem processes. Preference will be given to those who have already published papers or submitted manuscripts from their thesis. Ability to work cooperatively in a joint team effort is essential. Research will involve intensive field work, sometimes under harsh conditions. 

            These are three-year positions with starting salaries of about 32,000 Swiss Francs per year and a starting date as soon as possible. Include a brief description of your M.S. research with the application, indicating the status of resulting manuscript(s).
